Swatch Q No Time to Die

See me in cosplay. Q giving me a very stern look.

This was a daring second post for me on YouTube. The video starts with a short message reminding us of the need to stay home and support the advice for Covid-19. You may notice a bit of growth on my chin, that is not befitting of the Connery Bond I was trying my best to emulate. As we went into lock down I had this mad thought of growing a beard. This lasted all of a week, and to my wife’s relief was quickly removed. She did get her own back later by shaving my head.

Dressing up in my tux was a real treat. I hadn’t worn it for 6 years and was quite pleased it still fitted. You’ll also notice a couple of family heirlooms passed on by my father. His air pistol and lighter. I remember both growing up, and often routed through my dads stuff to find. Maybe I’ll do a special on these item alone. Would be good for me to find out more about them. Stay tuned.

In terms of the watch, I think on it’s own, £170 is a stretch. Given the context and the limited run (let’s not see Swatch release another run to coincide with the films new release date), I felt much happier spending money on this than, say a Q Timex. The movement on the crown feels a little flimsy, but the aesthetic they have gone for is very pleasing and any such misgivings about the internals are swept away by the overall charm of the piece. I will enjoy pulling this one out of storage now and then to have a play. I do this with my Speedmaster Professional presentation box, it’s like opening it for the first time, every time. I love it.

4 weeks on, it’s still in the box. My eldest son has expressed an interest, but I’m going to sit on it for a while. Who knows, in 20 years, this may become the must have piece of pop culture.
